Arabic sentences 4 : Pronoun + Noun/Adjective
Pronouns are definite nouns: All pronouns are nouns. All pronouns are definite. Therefore, pronouns are definite nouns in Arabic.



We studied in a previous lesson that a nominal sentence starts with a definite noun, which means that a pronoun can start a sentence as it is considered a definite noun in Arabic. 

We also learnt that this first noun is then followed by an indefinite noun or adjective. So, using some pronouns, some nouns, and some adjectives we can form a few sentences, as shown below. 

Nominal sentences starting with pronouns

I am an engineer	أنا مهندسٌ
You (m.) are a student	أنتَ طالبٌ
You (f.) are a student	أنتِ طالبةٌ
He is a president	هو رئيسٌ
She is a doctor	هي طبيبةٌ

Now some examples with adjectives.Nominal sentences, with pronouns + adjectives

I am hardworking	أنا مجتهد
You (m.) are generous	أنتَ كَريم
You (f.) are beautiful	أنتِ جَميلة
He is happy	هو سَعيد
She is honest	هي أَمينة

The last four adjectives in the table above are also used as proper nouns. For each of them, add/remove ة to change gender.

Summary
1. A pronoun is considered a definite noun.
2. A nominal sentence can start with a pronoun in place of a definite noun.
3. Place an indefinite noun after the pronoun to get a complete sentence.
4. The word after the pronoun can also be an adjective, indefinite of course.
